Xiaomi announces a new model in the MIX series but contrary to what we might expect since this phone does not have a foldable screen. However, the MIX 4 is also a phone with some features being used for the first time in the world.

The Xiaomi Mix 4 announced by the company is the first phone from the manufacturer with an in-display camera and ultra-wideband support, and also the first phone in the world to be powered by Snapdragon 888 Plus processor.

This time, Xiaomi shines in design and offers a distinctive and elegant design. The screen is slightly curved and the back is covered with ceramic which is now 30% lighter.

There is a large square-shaped camera on the back that houses three rear cameras. Xiaomi will sell the phone in three different colors, white, gray, and black, all with ceramic materials.

The company says that there is also Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the screen, which makes the phone quality materials due to the use of ceramic with Gorilla Glass Victus.

The MIX 4 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED 3D curved screen with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The screen is a 10-bit TrueColor panel with a 500,000:1 contrast ratio.

The screen uses Micro-Diamond Pixel technology which reduces pixel sizes and increases brightness.

The new Xiaomi phone is also the first in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 888+ processor. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

One of the most notable features of the MIX 4 is the in-screen camera technology that Xiaomi calls CUP (camera under-panel).

At the back there are three cameras – the first is a 108MP HMX f/1.9 main camera with 7P lens and OIS, and an 8MP 50x periscope camera with OIS as well, and the Periscope camera offers up to 5x optical zoom.

Xiaomi offers a triple camera on the back that comes with an ultra-wide angle of 13 megapixels, with an f/2.2 lens slot.

The company calls this sensor free-form, which means a free-form ultra-wide-angle lens that helps reduce distortion to about 1% compared to 20% on a standard lens.

The phone features a 4500 mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The latter has a default mode that takes 45 minutes to charge the phone to 100% while the speed boost mode takes just 28 minutes.

For wired fast charging, boost mode charges the phone in just 15 minutes while normal mode takes 21 minutes. Xiaomi claims that the maximum background temperature of the phone while charging at 120W is 37°C.

The battery comes with graphene sheets

The company has also equipped Mi MIX 4 with a cooling area of ​​11588mm². It includes a 4584mm² graphene plate, a 1232mm² graphene heat spreader, a second 5070mm² graphite plate, and a 702mm² graphite plate between the wireless charging coil and the ceramic back.

The MIX 4 has stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. It also has 19 antennas, 42 bandwidth support, and a signal enhancement mode that works in 8 scenarios where there is usually high traffic such as airport, hospital, and subway station.

Xiaomi has also added support for the 500MHz ultra-wideband which allows for very precise spatial positioning.

There is also a great Find-My-Phone feature that keeps the MIX 4 connected to a network even after the SIM card is removed.

The MIX 4 is available in four configurations and their prices are below:

8 GB RAM + 128 GB = 4,999 JPY (770 USD).
8 GB RAM + 256 GB = 5299 (~ $817).
12 GB RAM + 256 GB = 5799 JPY ($894).
12 GB RAM + 512 GB = 6,299 JPY (972 USD).
Xiaomi has not yet announced when it will be available for purchase.
